Game Brainstorm

So I have been Brainstorming some ideas of video games I could make myself on Unity. Most of the games I have been looking at are 2D based, one of them is 3D. Making a 2D game will be different and more work since I have not actual practiced it before but this will be beneficial.

Game

Idea One

Hill Drive Racing was made back in 2012 and is a 2D based video game where, the player controls a driver across hilly terrains, collecting coins along the way and spending them on vehicular upgrades while being careful of the driver's head as well as the vehicle's fuel supply.

Hill Climb Racing
The object of Hill Climb Racing is to drive as far through the racing stages as possible while collecting coins and being careful with the uneven hill shape, using only two simple controls: the Gas and Brake pedals. When driving in midair, pressing these pedals will instead cause the vehicle to rotate, allowing the player to control the angle with which they land. Fuel is refilled by picking up gas canisters or batteries along the way. The ways of ending the game are simply the vehicle's fuel or hitting the driving avatar's head.

This game is fun as its all about speed and balance trying not to kill the driver which is yourself with all the many many irregular and complicated shaped hill and obstacles.

Making this game in my opinion would be fun from making the levels and the avatar basically the whole scenes. I am not sure how many level there are supposed to be but I am going limit myself to 10 levels. Thinking I do not have a set location for this game I think I should put the hill maybe between grass, rock and sand ground meanwhile the atmosphere while either be day, afternoon or night well that depends on the level. There will be different obstacles in this game I will try to add in an open ground or a bridge that is all I have at the moment. The avatar will be a male only makes sense as the male gender are usually reckless drivers (Sorry not Sorry).

Idea Two

The Angry Birds game was made back in 2009 and is also a 2D based video game.

In Angry Birds, the player controls a flock of different coloured birds that are trying to get their eggs, which have been stolen by a group of hungry green pigs.

Angry Birds
In every level of the game, enemy pigs are sheltered by structures from various materials like wood, glass, and stone with together look like some children's building blocks. The aim of the game is to eliminate all the pigs on the level, using a slingshot, players launch a limited set of birds  directly or damaging their surrounding structures, causing it to collapse and squash the pigs. In different levels of the game, additional objects such as TNT crates and rocks are added to the structure.

This game is brain-working as it is a puzzle to aim the slingshot at a certain angle knocking down the structure squishing the green pigs and moving to the next level.

With making this game I realise that the game quality is going to be at a lower standard than the original but that is alright. There will not be much change in the background of the game it will just be a day and night type of scene. What I would focus on is making a suitable slingshot and making the structure layout with the green pigs that has to be destroyed, changing the layout and the amount of pigs in each level. Also adding the different materials (the wood, glass and stone). It will be interesting the design the 2D coloured birds for the game and the green pigs,  there would be a lot of drawing and designing in this one. I would have to measure the weight of the materials in the structure layout with height and the green pigs.

Idea Three

Doodle Jump is another 2D based video game that was made back in 2010.

In Doodle Jump, the aim is to guide the four-legged creature called "The Doodler" up a never-ending series of platforms without falling down just by moving from left to right. There are also monsters and UFOs that the Doodler must avoid other obstacles too. There is actually no end to the game (well not that I have seen), but the end for each gameplay session happens when the player falls to the bottom of the screen, jumps into a monster. The themes change the look of the Doodle Jumper, his enemies, and the background.

Doodle Jump
I find this game alright with all the moving side to side and jumping avoiding certain obstacles but I do wish there was some sort of check point in the game because there are times in the game where you would lose focus with all the things around and just fall to the bottom losing the game. Overall its a good game.

This game will just be vertical game as "The Doodler" will only be moving upwards in the game trying to reach the highest height. In this game I do not think there should be many levels maybe just 4 as in the actual game I do not know how far "The Doodler" would have to jump to get to the end of one level. Besides that I would have to design how "The Doodler" would look like along with the little pieces of land that it jumps on. Then again I would chose between the background being clouds, jungle, ocean and space because I think those are more likely to relate to the character.

Idea Four

Stack here is different to the other games as it is a 3D based video game. I actually like this particular game because it has a lot of focus and determination on the movement of the squares moving across the screen just to precisely land it directly on top of each other so it can carefully stack other wise it will start cutting off and the squares will start decreasing in size.

Stack
In Stack, the aim is to carefully stack each of the flat 3D squares equally on top of each other stacking them as high as you can. As you continue stacking you gain points in this games case you gain gems. The higher you stack the colours change in ombre form, making sure you are able to stack them precisely if you do not the stacking will become harder as the squares become smaller.

Making this game would be cool with adjusting the movement of the 3D square vertically and horizontally and, choosing the colours to blend in (ombre form). I would mainly be focusing on how to stack the squares on top of each other fixing with the weight and thickness of the square itself. I would need to make a place to record the high score and also design some gems to collect int he game. In this game there would only be 1 level because it is meant to be an endless stacking game so with making different levels I suppose it would not make much sense, just focusing on the stacking and getting gems also the high score.
