Reading 3

Growth

Well of this weeks reading we had to do more research and digging, so I had to read 4 different academic papers and with that I then write up 4 annotated bibliographies. And did I struggle even before I fully started yes...yes I did😑. For my topic with is "Creative Play" I had to manoeuvre my way around because some of the articles were on children in preschool which was not really that much of a help for me. But after so many trials and errors I did manage to find some articles that displayed some sort of help for me luckily.

Annotated bibliographies

Patrick Prax, (2015), Co-Creative Game Design in MMORPGs, Uppsala University, Disciplinary Domain of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Informatics and Media, Media and Communication Studies.

In this paper Prax shows that creative play is used to understand the relationship between the owner of the game and its players through its political and cultural influences. The players given way of communicating and writing changes the way the game is portrayed, not only for the person play itself but for the other potential people playing or others that have the same game interest. Overall its creative play gives an understanding the multiple different creations a player can have in mind within a given game design.

  • In this paper here they present an app based mostly on the creativity within, letting the player do all sorts of things from building to designing. Testing all of the outcomes it came that opening the creative play and mind with letting the players draw and create the own things lead to a higher engagement party, whereas the female gender spend more time perfecting there own designs to perfection where the male gender did not do as much. Adding things like self design, building, customising etc opening the creative field to the game players opens up more engagement opportunities it is a great sense of game design.

Patrick Prax, (2016),Co-creative Game Design as Participatory Alternative Media,Uppsala University, Disciplinary Domain of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Informatics and Media, Media and Communication Studies.

This paper Prax states that a players responds to the creation infrastructure towards a game is not only made by playing the game it also forms how others play it in a distinct creative activity. Players always have more of an influence over the design of a game over interest. Again the creative game design in a game develops a relationship between the player and said character within the game.

    Well thats that.👍
